The Check-Mate Mobile Unit is funded by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services to offer free and confidential HIV testing and medical support services. Services are interpreted in English and Spanish.
The following services are offered:
- HIV testing with results in 20-40 minutes
- Pre/post-test counseling
- Cholesterol screening
- Diabetes screening
- Blood pressure screening
- Hepatitis A, B, C screenings
- Sexually transmitted disease screenings
- Routine pap smears
- Breast Exams
- Pregnancy testing
All testing is free and referrals are offered for case management, risk reduction plans, teen peer programs, drug and alcohol assistance, food pantries HIV/AIDS clinics, homeless shelters and a host of other preventative support services.
The program is designed to target low-income residents or individuals who do not have the capabilities or opportunity to access health-related services. The focus is to provide the community with the knowledge, motivation and skills necessary to make responsible choices to reduce their risk of HIV infection and other sexually-transmitted diseases.

- No test results are given over the phone.
- No HIV test results on Friday.
- Office testing by appointment only.
- Office test results by appointment only.
- Test results are given on the dates specified by the counselor.
- No appointment needed for test of test results on the outreach mobile unit.
HIV counseling and testing is a highly sensitive program. All information about clients, test results, and appointments are held sensitive and kept confidential.
