PRESCHOOL LEARNING CENTER

The Learning Center is Located at 131 CP Williams Place, Long Branch, NJ, 07740. The hours of operation are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The Check-Mate Pre-school Learning Center was established to facilitate employment and training opportunities for residents of the housing authority and surrounding neighborhoods. Information, referrals, and case management services are provided for families. to assure success in educational, employment, and social activities. A parent’s group meets regularly to provide a forum for discussion of center and community activities.

The Philosophy of the Check-Mate Learning Center is that early childhood education should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery. Preschool children are normally creative and extremely receptive. The staff nurtures and encourages these qualities in the children who attend the learning center. The learning center provides an atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth and development of the child as a whole.

The learning center is licensed through the Bureau of Licensing of the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services. The learning center has a copy of the Manual of Standards available for parents to review that covers staff qualifications, staff/child ratios, program activities, health, food and sleep requirements etc.

CURRICULUM

The curriculum includes:

sharing
regular visits to the library
songs
finger plays
creative art activities
crafts
games
muscle activities
field trips
food preparation
science activities
health activities
exposure to shapes colors numbers letters
name recognition
the celebration of birthdays and holidays

ADMISSIONS

The child must be 18 months old to be admitted into the program.
Classes are enrolled on a first come first served basis according to the date of enrollment with the head teacher.
If the class is full during enrollment the child will be put on a waiting list to fill vacancies as they become available.

TUITION

Tuition is paid in weekly installments and is due the first day of each week. If payments are not made on time a $5.00 late fee will be charged each week the payment is not received in full. If the payment is not made for two weeks the parent will be asked to withdraw the child from the program No refunds are given for illness or snow days, these days are not made up during the year. Children who are enrolled full-time (5 days) are given vacation time without a fee. This is five class days during the course of one year. These days may be taken all at once or in intervals but may not exceed five days. If the five-day limit is exceed tuition will resume on the sixth day. The head teacher must be notified in writing by the parent or guardian before using these days.

Tuition fees for the year vary and the Learning Center should be called about the current fee schedule.
